This past weekend, the 8-10th, our youth group had a youth retreat. It was awesome, as usual but this one was a little different for me. It wasn’t the lessons that were different, though I seemed to learn more from this one then past ones, but we had a foot washing. When we were first told about it I didn’t think anything of it, I thought it was just going to be a fun little event. We went through the lession, and then it was time to do the foot washing. I don’t know what it was, but it wasn’t until we were sitting in the circles that I realized how absolutely serious it was and I got a little uneasy. I am extremely glad I did it though, because I know I would have regretted it if I didn’t do it. I’m not sure, but once all the guys finished and we walked out of that room it REALLY hit me, and it was just an eye-opening experience for me. These retreats are always alot of fun to play games and get to hang out with friends, but there’s always at least one thing that’ll change you, and for me it was the foot washing. I never really thought about what foot washing was, I always thought it was just a way of thanking your guest for coming or something which I suppose it partially what it might be. But after doing it I realized it’s not just that. It’s so much more, and I couldn’t explain it if I wanted to. That was the serious part of the retreat, for the stupid, messing around part.. Well, I’ll let this do the talking; ![]()
